Akron splits matches against Rams

On Sunday, April 26, the men’s soccer team ended their spring season with a split against the visiting Rams of VCU.

In the first game, the Rams winning by a score of 1-0. The lone score happened during a PK in the 51st minute of the contest. UA had several chances to take the lead or equalize the game with a late charge but failed to score throughout the game.

The night game, hosted at FirstEnergy Stadium, had only one half and left the Zips with a win 1-0. Adi Dakwar shot the winning goal in the 22nd minute of the game and Richie Laryea came close to another goal minutes later, but missed the corner of the net by a slim margin. Jake Fenlason goalied for UA the entire two games and saved six goals from the VCU’s offense.

Akron will resume spring training once the 2015 season begins in August with their last exhibition against Oakland on August 18, before heading to Richmond, VA. to open their season against the Rams of VCU again on August 28.
