Rob’s Café is the main dining facility where students living on campus eat. If only it offered decent food and was open at convenient hours.
By the looks of Rob’s Web page, it appears to be convenient and comfortable. It lists its hours as Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., extended hours 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., extended hours 6 p.m. to 12 a.m.
The portion which lists the extended hours makes it appear to patrons as though it is open late, but it is not.
Rob’s Café has limited hours, which is surprising and inconvenient considering the fact that the students living on campus depend on that dining hall for most meals.
Many students work late on weeknights and come home hungry, but cannot eat dinner because it is after 8 p.m. and Rob’s Café has closed for the evening.
Other students work early on Saturday and Sunday mornings and are unable to get breakfast beforehand because Rob’s Café has not opened for the day. The Web page states that Your satisfaction is our success! but going to bed hungry is hardly satisfaction and disgruntled hungry students is hardly success.
The hours make eating inconvenient for students on the go. If a student has a previous engagement which does not coincide with the hours of Rob’s Café, the student has to go elsewhere to eat when it would be easier to eat on campus where meal plans are accepted.
The Web site states Rob’s is an all-you-care-to-eat dining facility where you can feast on pizza, made-to-order deli and Panini sandwiches, fresh, made-to-order pasta and stir fry, full-service salad bar, and more!
We also offer a variety of home-style and vegetarian selections. At breakfast and lunch, enjoy made-to-order eggs and breakfast sandwiches. There’s so much to choose from! The quality reports made by students suggest otherwise.
One student commented that the food at Rob’s Café is not up to par. The student described the food as Nauseating, bad quality food. There is a lack of selection for a buffet and there are similar meals everyday.
Many students eat at Rob’s daily. It would make a lot more sense for the café to be open earlier and longer, as well as broaden the food selection to make campus life easier and more comfortable.
