Halloween is a time of spooks, tricks and treats. This year, for the students at Leggett Elementary School, a school that hasn’t had trick-or-treating in a decade, it was just that.
The second annual Trunk or Treat event was held in the Leggett Elementary School gymnasium. With close to 400 students in attendance, it was a busy night for participating student organizations.
It’s almost Halloween, and for most of us, this means assembling costumes, carving pumpkins, candy, and wild parties. But for a select few, October is about more than dressing in a zombie-version of your favorite TV personality. For Dave Shonk, junior at the University of Akron, Halloween means one thing only: haunted houses.
This Saturday the first of a series of Boo at the Zoo trick-or-treat events will be happening at the Akron Zoo.
Boo at the Zoo is an annual event that allows trick-or-treaters to collect candy and have fun with the Halloween holiday within the safety of the zoo.
Halloween comes once a year, so why not go all out? Playing it safe is not an option for most people. College students are known for their creative costumes as well as the witty ones. Rob Lehr from Akron Design and Costume says many college kids are buying multiple costumes for their Halloween parties.
Concerns about safety and the tricks that may be waiting beyond neighboring thresholds kept kids from trick-or-treating until last year’s Halloween event for children, Trunk or Treat, was started by the Leggett Area Block Watch and various University organizations.
